Study sees more frequent contagion in those who took medicine to avoid Covid-19

Data are a survey conducted with residents of Manaus

A survey of Manaus residents reveals that Covid-19 was more frequent in people who took medication to avoid contracting the coronavirus.

The study published by the scientific journal Elsévier was carried out by researchers the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) in conjunction with Fiocruz Amazônia, the Health Surveillance Foundation (FVS-AM), and Peruvian scientists.

According to the results, in the group that used some medication in order to prevent the disease, the prevalence of Covid-19 was 38.6%, against 25.9% in the group that did not take any medication for this purpose.

The most commonly used drugs to prevent the virus were ivermectin and paracetamol. There is no scientific evidence of the efficacy of remedies for treating Covid-19.
