Olympics: Brazilian gymnast performs to the sound of “Baile de Favela”

Music by MC João was the soundtrack chosen by Rebeca Andrade for her performance on Solo.

This time, on the main stage of the Artistic Gymnastics. All thanks to Rebeca Andrade, a Brazilian gymnast who used “Baile de Favela” as the soundtrack for her Solo performance. And she stood out.

The performance at Rebeca's Solo mixed classical and funk music, with instrumental music by MC João, a great success in 2015, and placed the Brazilian in fourth place on the device.

Overall, Rebeca Andrade showed her strength and ranked second, only behind the American Simone Biles, considered the best gymnast today. The difference between the two, in fact, was not great: only 0.332. With this classification, Rebeca is closer to becoming the first Brazilian medalist in general in women's artistic gymnastics.

In addition to the solo and overall, Rebeca still qualified for the final of the jump.

This is not the first time that Rebeca Andrade performs with “Baile de Favela” in her solo performance at Ginástica Artística. In the Pan American Gymnastics, the Brazilian gymnast made history by guaranteeing her place in the Tokyo Olympics with an excellent score and even made funk be noticed worldwide.

What is the future of funk?

Rebeca Andrade took funk to the main stage of artistic gymnastics in the world and stood out. But despite this great prominence, funk still struggles for greater recognition and especially the end of gender prejudice.

Although funk is already at another level, prejudice still exists. Even with millions of artists in this segment and making a lot of money with shows and their clips, we still don't see them on TV shows or participating in major festivals.

That is, even if people are already making money, that doesn't mean that everyone respects the pace. That's why we need more people, like Rebeca, showing that funk is part of our national culture.
