Coach Renan Dal Zotto, of the Brazilian men's volleyball team, was intubated this Monday due to complications the covid-19. He has been hospitalized since last Friday in a hospital in Rio de Janeiro and had to undergo the procedure to maintain the highest oxygen saturation level.
"The expectation is that the coach will remain in this state 48h to 72h and then start the removal of the mechanical respirator", said the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation (CBV) in an official statement.
The 60-year-old had already taken the first dose of the vaccine, but tested positive for the new coronavirus last Tuesday. The situation worsened on Friday, when he needed to be admitted with low oxygen saturation in his blood.
